Podgorica: As the capital, Podgorica has excellent 4G and growing 5G coverage across its urban center and residential districts. You can expect a strong, reliable signal in cafes, parks, and major shopping areas. Indoor coverage is generally very good in modern buildings, but can be weaker inside older, concrete-heavy structures.

Kotor: Network performance is strong along the waterfront and in open areas. However, within the medieval walls of the Old Town, the narrow stone alleyways and exceptionally thick-walled buildings can significantly impact your signal. You may find the connection drops indoors and is best in open squares or courtyards.

Budva: The popular Budva Riviera, including its beaches and promenades, has robust 4G coverage designed to handle heavy tourist traffic, especially in summer. Modern hotels and apartments have reliable indoor signals, though performance can be intermittent inside the stone structures of the historic Old Town.

Tivat: Connectivity is exceptional in Tivat, particularly around the Porto Montenegro marina and the city center, which cater to an international audience. The network provides fast and stable data, ideal for high-demand use. Signal strength is also consistently strong in and around Tivat Airport (TIV).

Bar: This major port city offers dependable 4G connectivity throughout its modern downtown area and along the coast. While visiting the historic Stari Bar (Old Bar) ruins on the hill inland, you may experience slightly less consistent coverage compared to the new city, but the signal remains functional for most needs.

Major Highways (A-1, E65/E80): Coverage is generally strong along the coastal Adriatic Highway (part of the E65/E80) connecting major towns. However, the inland portion of the E65/E80 through the Morača Canyon has frequent and prolonged signal drops. The new A-1 motorway provides modern transit but connectivity is interrupted inside its many long tunnels.

Belgrade-Bar Railway: As Montenegro's primary rail line, you can expect reliable signal in and around major stations like Podgorica, Sutomore, and Bar. The signal becomes very intermittent and is often lost for extended periods on the northern, mountainous section of the route between Podgorica and Bijelo Polje.

Mountain Regions (Durmitor & Prokletije): When traveling through the high-altitude terrain of Durmitor and Prokletije National Parks, expect cellular service to be non-existent outside of the main towns like Žabljak or Plav. Scenic routes, hiking trails, and mountain passes will have no reliable signal.

Tunnels and Canyons: You will lose your connection inside most of Montenegro's numerous road tunnels, including the major Sozina Tunnel and the new tunnels on the A-1 motorway. Signal is also frequently blocked when driving through deep river canyons, most notably the Tara River Canyon, which is the deepest in Europe.

Remote Border Regions: In sparsely populated areas along the borders with Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, and Kosovo, particularly in the northern and eastern highlands, network coverage can be patchy or unavailable once you are a few kilometers away from a town or main road.
