Bergen: You'll find strong 4G/5G service in central areas, including the historic Bryggen wharf. The city's many tunnels and surrounding mountains can occasionally create brief signal gaps. The Bybanen light rail runs mostly above ground, ensuring consistent connectivity along its route, with only minor drops in short underground sections.

Trondheim: As a major university city, Trondheim boasts a robust 4G and 5G network with excellent coverage in the city center, around the Nidaros Cathedral, and student-heavy areas. With no underground metro, you can expect a stable connection while travelling on buses and local transport. Indoor coverage is generally dependable.

Stavanger: The city and its main business districts have superb 4G/5G connectivity. While your signal will be strong in urban areas and along the coast, be aware that connections become intermittent and often disappear entirely when hiking in nearby natural attractions like Preikestolen (Pulpit Rock).

Tromsø: Despite its Arctic location, Tromsø offers surprisingly strong 4G and expanding 5G coverage within the city limits on Tromsøya island. However, once you venture out of the city for Northern Lights tours or fjord excursions into more remote valleys, expect mobile service to be very limited or non-existent.

European Routes (E-roads): Coverage is strong on major routes like the E6 and E18 around Oslo and other southern cities. However, signal becomes intermittent on the E6 north of Trondheim, the E39 along the western coast with its numerous tunnels and ferry crossings, and the E16 as it crosses mountainous terrain between Oslo and Bergen.

Intercity Rail (Vy): On main lines like the Bergensbanen (Oslo-Bergen) and Dovrebanen (Oslo-Trondheim), expect reliable connectivity near major stations but frequent signal loss. The high mountain plateaus, such as Hardangervidda, and the numerous long tunnels on these routes are well-known dead zones.

Mountain Passes and Plateaus: Driving over mountain plateaus like Hardangervidda or Dovrefjell, or on scenic tourist routes, will result in extended periods without a signal. Connectivity is sparse to non-existent on many county roads (Fylkesvei) that traverse high-altitude and remote areas.

Long Tunnels and Ferries: Norway's extensive network of long road tunnels, including the Lærdal Tunnel, typically lacks mobile signal. Service cuts out upon entry and resumes after you exit. Similarly, on the many coastal ferry crossings, especially longer routes, cellular signal can be lost when far from land.

Northern Norway and Fjordlands: In the vast, sparsely populated regions of Northern Norway (Nord-Norge), particularly in Finnmark county, coverage is concentrated in towns and along the main E6 highway.
