How to Check if Your Phone Supports eSIM

Does Your Phone Support eSIM?

Most smartphones released after 2019 support eSIM, but some regional variants or carrier-locked models do not. Here is how to check in under 30 seconds.

Quick Check: iPhone

  1. Open Settings → Cellular (or Mobile Service)
  2. If you see Add eSIM or Set Up Cellular, your iPhone supports eSIM
  3. If that option is missing, your phone may be carrier-locked or an older model

Compatible iPhones: iPhone XR and all newer models, including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation).

Quick Check: Samsung

  1. Open Settings → Connections → SIM Manager
  2. If you see Add eSIM, your Samsung supports it

Compatible Samsung: Galaxy S20 and newer, Galaxy Z Fold 2+, Z Flip 3+, Galaxy Note 20, select Galaxy A series (A33, A35, A53, A54, A55).

Quick Check: Google Pixel

  1. Open Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs
  2. Look for Add eSIM or a + icon

Compatible Pixel: Pixel 3 and all newer models including Pixel Fold.

Quick Check: Other Android (OnePlus, Xiaomi, Oppo, etc.)

  1. Open Settings → Network & Internet (or SIM & Network)
  2. Look for Add eSIM or Download SIM

The IMEI Method (Works on Any Phone)

  1. Open your phone app and dial *#06#
  2. If you see an EID number (32 digits), your phone supports eSIM
  3. If you only see IMEI numbers but no EID, your phone likely does not support eSIM

Important: Carrier Lock

Even if your phone supports eSIM, it must be carrier-unlocked to use a third-party eSIM like Bcengi. If you bought your phone through a carrier on a payment plan, it may be locked. Contact your carrier to check or unlock it.

Bcengi TravelPass is a pay-as-you-go eSIM — you only pay for data you use, with no bundles, no expiry, and no contracts. One eSIM works in 200+ countries. Check the full compatibility list at bcengi.com.
