eSIM QR Code Not Working or Expired — What to Do

QR Code Not Working — Common Causes and Fixes

If your eSIM QR code will not scan or shows an error, do not worry — your balance and account are safe. The QR code is just the delivery method for your eSIM profile.

Cause 1: QR Code Already Used

Each QR code can only be used once. If you already scanned it on a device, the code is consumed. To reinstall:

  • Log in at travel.bcengi.com
  • Go to your eSIM detail page
  • Click eSIM QR & Info to get a fresh code

Cause 2: No Internet Connection

Your phone needs an active internet connection (WiFi or mobile data) to download the eSIM profile after scanning. Make sure you are connected to WiFi before scanning.

Cause 3: Camera Cannot Read the Code

  • Ensure good lighting on the QR code
  • Hold your phone steady about 6-8 inches from the code
  • If the code is on a screen, increase the screen brightness
  • Try using the manual entry method instead — your portal has the SM-DP+ address and activation code you can type in

Cause 4: Device Not Compatible or Locked

If you see an error during installation (not during scanning), your device may not support eSIM or may be carrier-locked.

Cause 5: Maximum eSIM Profiles Reached

Phones have a limit on stored eSIM profiles (typically 5–10 depending on the model). If you have hit the limit:

  • Go to your cellular settings and delete old eSIM profiles you no longer use
  • Then try scanning the QR code again

If none of the above works, contact support@bcengi.com. The team can release your eSIM profile and issue a new activation code. Your balance stays on your account — it is never lost.
