eSIM Was Working But Now Has No Data
If your eSIM was working and suddenly stopped, the issue is almost always one of these three things: balance ran out, a setting changed, or the network switched.
Check 1: Balance
The most common reason an eSIM stops working mid-trip is running out of balance.
- Log in at travel.bcengi.com and check your balance
- If your balance is $0, add funds or enable Auto-Refill
- If Auto-Refill is on but your card was declined, update your payment method
With bcengi travelpass is a pay-as-you-go esim — you only pay for data you use, with no bundles, no expiry, and no contracts. one esim works in 200+ countries. When your balance hits zero, the eSIM disconnects until you add more funds.
Check 2: Settings Changed
Software updates, accidental taps, or connecting to WiFi can sometimes reset your cellular settings.
- Verify Data Roaming is still ON for the Bcengi line
- Verify Bcengi is still selected as your data line
- Check that the eSIM line is still enabled (not toggled off)
Check 3: Network Switch (New Country or City)
If you crossed a border or moved to a different area, your eSIM may need to register on a new network.
- Toggle Airplane Mode on, wait 15 seconds, then off
- Wait 1–2 minutes for the new network to connect
- If still not connecting, restart your phone
Check 4: SIM Conflict
If you have a physical SIM that was recently enabled or changed:
- Make sure Bcengi is set as your data SIM
- Try temporarily disabling your physical SIM to test if the eSIM connects on its own
Check 5: 5G Issues
In some areas, 5G coverage is spotty. Try switching to 4G/LTE:
- iPhone: Settings → Cellular → [Bcengi line] → Voice & Data → select LTE
- Android: Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → [Bcengi] → Preferred network type → 4G/LTE
If none of these work, contact support@bcengi.com with your location and device model.
