eSIM Installation Failed — What to Do
If your eSIM will not install, do not worry. The issue is usually one of a few common problems, all of which have solutions.
Cause 1: No Internet Connection
Your phone needs an active internet connection to download the eSIM profile.
- Connect to WiFi before scanning the QR code
- If you are using mobile data, make sure it is stable
- Try a different WiFi network if the first one does not work
Cause 2: Phone Is Carrier-Locked
A carrier-locked phone only accepts eSIM profiles from that carrier.
- iPhone: Check Settings → General → About → look for "No SIM restrictions"
- Android: Try inserting a different carrier's SIM or contact your carrier
- If locked, contact your carrier to request an unlock (usually free if paid off)
Cause 3: eSIM Storage Full
Phones can store a limited number of eSIM profiles (typically 5–10).
- Go to your cellular/SIM settings and delete old eSIM profiles you no longer use
- Then try installing again
Cause 4: Phone Does Not Support eSIM
Some older phones or budget models do not have eSIM hardware.
- Check the compatibility list at bcengi.com
- Dial *#06# — if you see an EID number, eSIM is supported
Cause 5: QR Code Issue
- The QR code may have already been used (each code works once)
- Log in at travel.bcengi.com to get a fresh QR code
- Try the manual entry method instead of QR scanning
Cause 6: Software Outdated
Make sure your phone's operating system is up to date. Some eSIM features require recent OS versions.
- iPhone: Settings → General → Software Update
- Android: Settings → System → System Update
Last Resort
- Restart your phone
- Try installing again
- If it still fails, contact support@bcengi.com — the team can issue a new activation code
