On Swiss plans that do not include the US, a week of data there costs CHF 24.95 (US$30.13) with Salt's 1 Week Data Pack and CHF 15.80 (US$19.08) with two of Sunrise's 1 GB travel data S packs. Travel periods of 6 to 8 days used a median of 1.38 GB in Bcengi's 2026 sample. Paying as you go, that trip's 1.38 GB costs $2.32 in the United States at $1.68/GB, metered by the KB (Bcengi's prices are in US dollars). For this trip, Bcengi is about 13 times cheaper than Salt and about 8 times cheaper than Sunrise.

This page is for Sunrise postpaid and Salt plans that do not include the destination, and for the travel options of Lebara, yallo, Wingo, Migros Mobile and Coop Mobile, for customers whose plan does not include Italy. Each carrier's prices are as listed on its own website, read October 4, 2026.

Roaming data packs from Sunrise and Salt

  • Sunrise: on postpaid plans such as Swiss Connect Lite, travel data S costs CHF 7.90 (US$9.54) for 1 GB, M CHF 24.90 (US$30.07) for 5 GB and L CHF 47.90 (US$57.84) for 10 GB in Italy, Turkey and the US, each valid 12 months. In Thailand and Japan, Sunrise's travel data S, M and L zone A cost CHF 9.90 (US$11.95), CHF 29.90 (US$36.10) and CHF 49.90 (US$60.25). In the US, Sunrise's travel unlimited US & Canada costs CHF 30 (US$36.22) a month, recurring, for 40 GB.
  • Sunrise's travel data S holds 1 GB, less than a median trip's 1.38 GB: two S packs cost CHF 15.80 (US$19.08), the M pack CHF 24.90. With two S packs, the trip uses 1.38 GB of 2 GB, so nearly a third of what you paid for is left unused unless another trip uses it within 12 months.
  • Salt: the Europe Data Pack costs CHF 14.95 (US$18.05) for 1 week of unlimited data, 5 GB of it at high speed, in a list of countries that includes Italy, Turkey and Japan. Salt's 1 Week Data Pack for a single country, the US or Thailand among them, costs CHF 24.95 (US$30.13), also with 5 GB at high speed. Past the 5 GB, data slows to 128 kbit/s until another pack is bought, and Salt lets you buy as many packs as you want. With no pack, the Data DayPass costs CHF 4.95 (US$5.98) per 24 hours in the US, with 1 GB at high speed.
  • A median trip uses 1.38 GB of a Salt pack's 5 GB at high speed, so nearly three quarters of it is left unused when the week ends. With Salt's Data DayPass, each day costs the same however little data you use that day.

How these figures were measured

The usage figures come from Bcengi's 2026 International Mobile Data Usage Report: a stratified random sample of 10,000 travel periods, with usage from January 1 to September 30, 2026. The figures cover every destination in the sample, not one country.

Everyone sampled chose a pay-as-you-go eSIM, so the figures describe those travelers, not all travelers.

Each trip cost on this page is a model, not a bill: the GB a trip used times the per-GB rate on our pricing page on October 4, 2026. Rates can change; the pricing page always has the current ones.

Swiss franc prices are converted to US dollars at the Federal Reserve's rate for September 25, 2026, 0.8282 francs per US dollar.
